Being referred to as the Queen of Trance, Nifra is quickly rising to the top with her trance sounds. Don’t let her sweetness fool you, she throws down a set that will leave you asking for more. She sits down to tell us more about being the first woman to play at Dreamstate (NY), having Markus Schulz as her mentor, being a heartbreaker, and her love of making music.

Neon Owl had a chance to sit down and talk with Dan Willis of Neptune Project on 9/3/16 at Verso in San Francisco shortly before he performed a five hour open to close set for charity withThe Apollo Aid Foundation. It was a pleasure getting to know Dan, learn about The Apollo Aid Foundation, and of course a bit about music. The event itself was wonderful as so many people came to not only hear some great music, including an hour long tribute to OceanLab, but to also support a great foundation and give to charity. This was truly a night of “Dance. Give. Inspire.”

I ran into Doug multiple times from coast to coast, through our mutual love of music festivals and Andrew Rayel. I was always that hardcore fangirl he spotted rockin’ my glasses and customized Rayel Family shirt, and he was that stealth photographer always on the prowl for the perfect shot. Our conversations started via Instagram, and then we magically became friends in real life.
For any of you that have been following the festival scene, you definitely have seen Doug’s photos featured as promo shots of many festivals, websites, and the biggest social accounts like Insomniac, Pasquale Rotella, EDC, Dash Berlin, Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Martin Garrix, Alabama Shakes, Taylor Swift, Gwen Steffani, David Guetta, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. Doug is one of the partners at aLIVE Coverage, photographing some of the worlds biggest music festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival, Mysteryland, Ultra Music Festival, Nocturnal Wonderland, Electric Zoo, BPM, Hard Summer, and Holy Ship!
Doug truly lives and breathes for what he does in the music scene. He has been in love with the festival scene for a long time now, and feels that there is no other feeling like being able to transport people to a specific moment in time of a show through his photos. He sits down with Neon Owl for a chat about how he got started in the industry, advice to all those looking to break in, to his most memorable photo and moment.

I met with Adi through another amazing photographer, Doug Van Sant, right before EDMbiz and EDC. I knew I was going to interview Doug sometime that week, but the naturally curious me came out over brunch and I blurted out all the questions that came to mind. Having Adi tell me his story of why he left his successful gig in music photography back in Israel to come to the U.S. made me realize that I absolutely wanted to share it with the rest of you guys. Having stumbled into the scene 12 years ago back home, he is the perfect example of not settling for second best and continuously creating challenge to achieve greater things. We talk about how he began working with the Insomniac team, and his wife that helped contribute to him living out his dream. Adi tells us about the many elements that goes into a perfect photo, and tons of great advice for beginners looking to break through. Never having taken a single photography class, Adi believes in being self-taught, as well as seeking advice after experimenting with your own technique and style. Make sure to check out some of Adi’s favorite shots, as well as our upcoming features on other incredible photographers!

Neon Owl is excited to present to you our Dance.Give.Inspire. charity series in partnership with some of our favorite artists in the dance music industry. 100% of the proceeds from this series will go towards supporting generosity.org, a non-profit organization that builds wells in third world countries to supply water for those in need.
We want each piece of our merchandise to represent our Dance.Give.Inspire motto beyond the festival into everyday life. Through purchasing our gear, you can support charities like The Fender’s Music Foundation, Generosity, and many more! We are proud to have one of our favorites Andrew Rayel as our first partnered artist, with many more to be announce soon! See you on the dance floor, and through music we change the world
